Hi WiiM Community,

We are currently seeking beta testers for our WiiM Persistent Group feature. This feature enhances convenience, consistency, and customization, enabling quick selection and synchronization of multi-room audio across devices. You can also choose to play Spotify directly from the Spotify app on either a group or a single device. For more details, please check this article.

Jan 20, 2025 Update:

We are excited to announce that we will be resuming beta testing for the WiiM Persistent Group feature on the WiiM Mini. If you're interested in participating, please submit your Wiim Forum username and MAC address through the Beta Test link.

If you previously registered your WiiM Mini for this beta, we will send the beta firmware directly to you.

Does this require Apple, or will Android do too?

While my heart was always happy to see that sign on the border driving back home, you could be sure that’s when the rain would start …

Didn’t notice that WiiM had edited the opening post to include the beta apps links on Sep 29th even though I have notifications set for the thread - perhaps when doing such in the future, they could add a comment to the thread highlighting the edits and in that case, those watching the thread would get a notification. They might be wondering why nobody’s submitted a ticket - they could have been like me unaware of the beta apps availability

Thank you for telling.
If you hadn't noticed, I might have been oblivious forever.

I think this has happened before.
I am concerned that the lack of communication will gradually reduce the number of beta testers.

2. Persistent Group is only available for beta devices; you can add both official firmware and beta firmware devices to a group.
In my case, devices with official firmware do not appear in the list and cannot be added to the persistent group. I have two devices registered for beta testing and these are the only two devices that can be included in the group.

PS.
Three additional devices have been registered for beta testing.

Thought this may have been the case when they asked for specific MAC addresses of devices. I can understand the reasoning as they can use with stuff like 'Spotify connect' but as I use Linkplay based devices from different manufacturers I decided not to join the beta but admittedly mine would be a fringe case. 😁

Yeah, the description above is a bit ambiguous. I found the same as you that I could only add beta firmware devices to a persistent group when creating the group, but could add others when I clicked on the group on the now playing screen - but the stream didn’t play on those others. (edit: which is probably fair enough and I should exclude those from my tests)

So far, it seems like a tidier version than we previously had but I’ll need to revisit the tickets I sent for the first beta as I think a few may still apply. I hope to do that later today once I finish reading the novel I started yesterday…

Cosmetically, I don’t like the presentation on the devices page on my iPad in landscape mode - it just emphasises that it’s a phone/portrait layout stuck on to a landscape page…
