So... except for the new design and built-in rechargeable battery, there's no additional functionality compared to the included remote?

I really like it though! Too bad this wasn't included with the Ultra as standard :)

If you didn't use the voice control functionality in the past because you didn't own any Alexa devices to run it off of, you can now with this remote since it no longer needs to rely on an Alexa device to perform voice translation.

Hm, I don’t have any Alexa devices and can still use the 1st gen Voice Remote to control my Amp Pro with voice commands. Is the 2nd gen Voice Remote really different in this sense?

Not gonna’ lie—I honestly don’t know because I never use the voice control. I’m just 43, but I’m old enough to feel weird talking to electronics. 🤪

You could do that with the mic button on the original remote, you’ve never needed an echo to play music on a WiiM device.

Just to be clear @RyanWithWiiM , this still uses Alexa voice control just not via an echo, much like the original remote? I’m seeing a post on FB suggesting it does away with Alexa.

You're correct. The Remote 2 uses Alexa the same way the original remote did. Both remotes made it so you didn't need to use an Echo device in the home for Alexa control.
 
Is it possible to have 2 remotes paired with one Ultra? Would be nice to leave them where they get used often.
