As yet, the Amp doesn’t have that feature - at least it should mute when switching inputs.@WiiM Support Are there any plans to share when the Amp will be available in Germany/EU?
Additionaly what someone mentioned earlier a volume gain setting per input would be really helpful for using the device for TV and streaming music. I will return my NAD M10 because of this issue and might switch to the Wiim Amp.
Agree, looks silly and unnecessary.
To be fair, it did catch my eye but it would maybe have added some design complexity and additional cost. Probably shouldn't have anything on it as its use is fairly intuitive anywayI know I'm going to rarely use the knob, but I think it will annoy me.
And yes, I agree, if that is the only thing to complain about, then it must be good.
Yeah, I don't remember seeing the symbol in the initial photosTo be fair, it did catch my eye but it would maybe have added some design complexity and additional cost. Probably shouldn't have anything on it as its use is fairly intuitive anyway
It wasn't Hifistudio79 is still using old renders: https://www.hifistudio79.nl/product/wiim-amp-tpa3255-class-d-stereo-amp-streaming/Yeah, I don't remember seeing the symbol in the initial photos
It's back now.Wiim Amp was on sale a few days ago on Amazon, but now it is listed as unavailable and Crutchfield indicates they do not know when the amp will ship. I don't see it on sale anywhere right now. Any idea what happened?
No. See the faq viz. “The HDMI ARC and optical input port on the WiiM Amp are tailored for stereo PCM audio. It does not support other TV audio formats like Dolby Digital, Dolby Atmos, or DTS.”Does the Wiim amp (or any other Wiim for that matter) decode 5.1 audio? I dont see any wired audio out connections on it but it would be fantastic if it could decode 5.1 audio and send the back/surround channels wirelessly to another Wiim to drive the back speakers. It would be perfect for my 4.1 setup (with phanthom centre) and I suspect a lot of home cinema users are in the same boat.
Pity Randy didn't try the subwoofer output when doing his comparison with the V3 / SMSL stack as that should allow the Wiim Amp provide speakers + a powered subwoofer much higher output power than the Wiim Amp on its own.It lasted long ..
when you set the sub to let say 80hz, anything above 80 will go to main speaker? Or the main get full range will also adding more bass at 80hz on sub?No. See the faq viz. “The HDMI ARC and optical input port on the WiiM Amp are tailored for stereo PCM audio. How To Use Audio Input Ports of the WiiM Amp?
The WiiM Amp features three distinct audio input interfaces: the analog LINE IN, the digital optical (TOSLINK) SPDIF IN, and HDMI ARC. Connect a wide range of devices such as CD players, TVs, PCs, or turntables, to your WiiM Amp for high-quality ...faq.wiimhome.com
I think that has already been answered both in Darko’s article and here in the forum by @onlyoneme - the lower frequencies go to the sub and /only/ the higher frequencies to the main speakers.when you set the sub to let say 80hz, anything above 80 will go to main speaker? Or the main get full range will also adding more bass at 80hz on sub?
Turn the device upside down - the oddity of that might serve to alleviate the strangeness of the red port. Please let us know if it explodes when you plug in.But... but... I can't put a red plug into a white socket...
