We’re thrilled to make an official announcement that the WiiM Home app is now available on Apple TV! 🎉 (Yes, we know it's been in beta for a while and has had early access.)

This marks a big step forward in expanding control options for your WiiM devices by expanding the WiiM Home app to a new platform. With the Apple TV interface, you can manage playback and perform basic home screen functions all from your big screen.

What to Expect

✅ Streamlined Control: Manage your WiiM setup with ease
✅ Big-Screen Navigation: An intuitive UI designed for Apple TV
✅ More to Come: We're actively developing new features to enhance functionality

This initial release offers core controls and we may work to expand its capabilities over time. Stay tuned for future updates as we refine and improve the experience! We are working on an Android TV version as well!

📲 Now available on the App Store!

My ATV is connected to TV via HDMI and TV to AVR via ARC. Ultra is connected to Accuphase amp via analog and to AVR via optical. This way I can play WiiM either via amp or via AVR and in any case see WiiM Home app on the TV (from ATV). But apparently your setup is different, so this would not work BUT: some AVRs (e.g. my Denon) have a function allowing to display video from selected HDMI port while listening to audio-only sources (when I press Option I have the menu including item: "Video Selection" allowing to select video source - in your case it would be ATV?). I am not sure this would work for you, but you may give this a try?
Yes that did the trick!

I also have a Denon AVR(X4300H). Connected the Ultra via analog to the AVR(want to use the Ultra's DAC) and the ATV via HDMI to the Samsung Monitor, which is connected to the Denon via HDMI.

I've only recently started using ATV(which I love) and all the recommendations I read were to connect to AVR, which is how I was using it. So that was the bind up.

Thanks very much for your help!

It probably depends on many factors (e.g. if your TV is relatively modern), but I tried both - using AVR (I also have X4300H:)) or TV (LG OLED) as a main hub and from the picture quality point of view connection directly to the TV gave a bit better results (probably: less processing?), but more importantly this was BY FAR more ergonomic (especially as this way the TV remote pretty well supports Denon, ATV and others connected to its HDMIs) . Btw: I also connected TV to WiiM Opt-In and this way I have a nice route from the TV (and gear connected to its HDMIs) to my stereo amp - usually I use AVR (and its Atmos, etc codecs) via ARC, but e.g. for YouTube music videos using Accuphase and solid loudspeakers makes a huge difference.

I might be being a bit thick here lol but why buy a WiiM streamer if you have an Apple TV🧐

I have a Samsung monitor not a TV so no opt-in. I usually keep my music listening to a separate preamp/amp but when I’m lazy through the 4300 using the Ultra DAC sounds pretty good to my ears.
It’s just a remote control app you need a WiiM device as well
The Apple TV 4K isn’t just an app. I replaced my Roku with it as I already was using other Apple devices and I liked the idea of having a music and video streamer in one box. I already had the Ultra but use it solely for music connected to an external DAC.

An Apple TV is also a streamer though. Of course being Apple it doesn't support FLAC.
Yes I know my point was that WiiM app is a visual remote control for your WiiM devices
At a guess if you turned off all WiiM devices in your house the WiiM app on the Apple TV wouldn’t do a whole lot
But hey what do I know 😜

So it turns out that for whatever reason, when I have the ATV connected to the monitor and the monitor connected to the 4300, I'm not able to get Atmos to pass through to the 4300. I get Dolby Digital Plus. When I connect the ATV to one of the HDMI inputs the 4300 via HDMI, and I am able to get Atmos.

Is this happening to you as well? If not, wonder what I might need to change.

No idea (I do not have Samsung monitor), but it is possible that the monitor does not support the HDMI standard required for Atmos. I have exactly opposite problem though: my LG OLED supports passthrough of Atmos from ATV to the AVR, but NOT Dolby 5.1. I think that it is incompatibility of ATV with LG (Apple is quite reckless with such things, they simply do not care... because they can?), so it is equally possible that the problem you describe is similar? Just: (i) check the HDMI standard in your monitor, (ii) if it is ok then check if there is a switch in Samsung settings allowing you to passthrough signal (or setting such as: bitstream vs. PCM), (iii) if yes and still does not work - ask Chat GPT:).

Forgive me for what’s probably a simple answered question. I presently have my ATV connected via HDMI to my AVR.Any time I want to hear it I turn to that input. My Ultra is connected via analog to a separate input in the AVR. How do I listen to what’s playing on the Ultra while seeing the display on the ATV? There’s no way to connect one to the other.
This is not a convenient solution, as you will need to switch it back for normal Apple TV use. My Sony STR-DH590 AVR allows me to go into the amp settings and select a default audio input for each video input. I think the only choices are "none" (uses same HDMI input as device is plugged into), "coax", or "optical". If you have a similar Sony model or different AVR take a look through the input settings and see if it has a similar option. It's possible there may also be analog inputs available as an option, but mine only shows the 2 digital inputs. My Wiim is hooked up to my separate stereo system so I don't have this issue, but it was the first thing I thought of when the Apple TV and now the Android TV apps were announced.

My Samsung Monitor does not have eARC so it doesn't have the bandwith to support Atmos through ATV.

This frankly has become a bit too complex for me and not worth more energy than I've already given it to get what really doesn't matter that much to me. Being able to have Atmos for music/video is primary, and by connecting the ATV via HDMI to the Denon AVR I have that. I have the Ultra display on my 3 Apple devices so not having it on my Samsung monitor is no big deal. Frustrating a tiny bit? Yup. But it is what it is.

Thanks folks for your help.
