Disappointed that there’s no option to set/unset fixed volume or sub use in Smart Presets that many have expressed a desire for.

Also, some will see tying these configuration changes to content playback as less than optimal. For them, could I suggest that they set up a “silent” playlist on Spotify (even Spotify free) with the track “Silent Track” by Silent Track, set this as a preset and set a low duration under its smart preset settings?

Yes. Why is this associated with Preset at all. I would prefer to be able to save the current configuration (everything that can be changed for the device) in a named Scenario that will then be selectable in addition to the Present.

Example: Scenario "Headphone" that set headphone as output. The optimal EQ and volume is set with this and Sub is disabled. No source is selected, as I just want the current playing to continue.

Exactly this. There should be no need to associate EQ etc to a preset like a radio station. I have no presets so will need to create one just to use this feature.

No sub option or volume limit to match the EQ makes this another feature of limited use.

Being able to select (or not) the sub is a must have for me.

I currently use my Ultra, 3 RCA outs (L/R/Sub) for my speaker/sub set up, and a WiiM Mini feeding an external DAC/HP amp for headphones.

If I could select preset 1 as 3 RCA outs, along with my current room correction PEQ, sub on, and preset 2 digital out to DAC/HP amp, with no room correction, PEQ for my headphones, sub off, I could use the Mini for other things.

But unless I can select sub on for some presets and off for others, it's pretty worthless for me, I'm afraid.

I don't understand who designed and tested this?
A "simple" design would be to just allow a snapshot of the relevant part of the current configuration and allow it to be saved and retrieved with a name.

No need for much WHA update.

WiiM designed it and I and other beta testers tested it and made suggestions for changes that didn’t seem to have made it to the public release, but that’s the nature of suggestions, they’re not directives. Plus, as I posted earlier, I and others have made suggestions for a means of saving and restoring configuration settings.

Guess all you can do is impress upon WiiM what you don’t like about the released features thru a feedback ticket in the hope they’ll make changes further down the line.

Also, it’s not clear if the volume setting overrides fixed volume or not - I can’t recall from having tested it in beta. If it doesn’t, headphone users will need to watch out…

Someone who ignored all the feedback on the forum 😃

Of course I requested them, but they said they were looking into another option to turn off the sub during headphone output.

Food for thoughts :

Same as Plex(amp) story.

If they truly wanted our involvement besides being free QA/beta testers WiiM should maybe share some kind of design/requirements description before they develop anything.

It can come still with all the standard disclaimers that nothing is a promise and in the end they can do whatever they want as is off course WiiMs right.

Off course no other company does that. But you do wonder about the efficiency of implementing something to just get disappointing reactions upon release.

Hi Burnside,

With the latest app(Version 3.1.0) update, you can now choose between Follow Current Volume and Set Custom Volume, providing flexible volume control options. Additionally, you can edit empty presets to create input presets or modify settings without requiring a "silent track."

In the next phase, we plan to enhance the smart preset feature with more configuration options, including grouping with other devices for playback, toggling the subwoofer on/off, and more. Stay tuned!

Hi Steve Woodhouse,

The subwoofer option for Smart Preset will be available in the next app and firmware update. Stay tuned!

I love being a Wiim owner, always something to look forward to.
