WiiM Ultra Firmware v5.2.709956 - Mar 6, 2025

I have to agree. I tried the 2 new coloured VU meters and really like the cream coloured background, but unfortunately it is not viewable at a few meters distance away. Perhaps for a desktop/near field application it works.

It would be better if the needle and readings were bold/thicker. The original colour scheme is the most readable so I've reverted back to this.

However, and I know it's been mentioned a few times already, but a digital VU meter or spectrum analyzer would have been a better addition..
your use of spectrum analyzer here?

For people like me, just to be able to appreciate the music by hearing and seeing as the music plays. With the only available screen and selling point of the Ultra, why not?
I know... ;-)
but if I tell you that to do this Wiim will consume resources, which seem limited, which could-should be allocated to functions concerning the audio aspect, risk of distortions, development of the rc-peq mode, etc. etc. monitoring of the impact of their firmware etc debug etc?
(for all wiim machine..not only screen of ultra?)
Things sometimes expected for years...
for your listening comfort...

;-)

but don't worry...I'm sure it come... ;-)

If that's the case then I agree. Most consumers probably don't think about this - me included :) Function over form 100%.

Maybe for Ultra v2!

This is all about software, so I'm still positive that they will take care of it at some point for the existing product range.

Hi Team,

Are you referring to the spectrum analyzer as something like this? Thanks!

No. That was just a joke after asking an AI for what it would suggest.

Unless there is enough resources to make a real frequency display, the request was for the existing VU meters to actually work and show correct values.

The most important point is to be able to check that the pre-gain and EQ don't introduce clipping.

And then it would be nice to be able to see the VU meters from a distance.

Sorry! I thought some people were looking for a line level input meter to match up different inputs.
I am, but I prefer needles.

This is how I think a stereo dBFS meter should be modeled on the Ultra. It would max out at 0dBFS (not +3 dB like here). Colours could be yellow or orange from -6 to -3 dBFS and red from -3 to 0 dBFS. As you can see there would be room for -40 to 0 dBFS (1% to 100%),

@WiiM Team

A lot of the posters do not seem interested in music, but rather in silly/useless gizmos. That is fine, except that their demands push @WiiM Team away from its core mission - music playback functionality. Piling up further DSP processing and screen currents adds additional digital noise which pollutes and degrades the output stream. I say to @WiiM Team: save your resources aand concentrate on what really matters.

For those interested in music - turn off the screen. :)

1) So why make a device with a screen and then not use it?
2) You are a bit too absolutist and assertive. We are not all the same.
For example smart presets, group devices, sub functionalities don't interest me at all, but they interest others, so welcome for those who want these functions.
I am not asking WiiM to ignore them
