WiiM Ultra Firmware v5.2.714249 - Apr 18, 2025

"Enhanced VU Meter: Smoother, more responsive visual performance."

The VU meters are still showing wrong scale and still max out with 100% volume (going all to the right and out of the screen).

Ha! Just got an ADept yesterday. Set up to 24/96 it showed 16/48 on the Ultra and WHA. Will check again. New firmware just installed.

It turns out this is sort of a combined issue. The Adept (and PocketADC) do not provide any bit depth metadata, which the Ultra uses to indicate the bit depth, so the Ultra defaults to showing “16 bit” no matter what. That also means I was mistaken that it ever said 24 bit. I just wasn’t attentive, I guess.

Luckily, WiiM says they will look into changing how the Ultra determines bit depth for the display (which would help for devices beyond just the two miniDSP devices in question), and miniDSP say they will look into updating the Adept firmware to include this metadata and have it adjust depending on the user setting (e.g. 16, 24, or 32). Sadly, the PocketADC has no solution since it’s running in “hardware mode” which prevents miniDSP from changing the lack of metadata.

6. Group Volume via TV Remote: Control group volume directly using your TV remote.

I hope this is also fixed for playing to persistent group from Spotify app via Connect.
After getting this update I can no longer see my president group for playback from the Spotify app.

Or if I have multiple groups I can see one of them but then my standalone Ultra is not showing.

It's off. If it was on the WiiM Ultra would turn on from standby and select TV input.
That part work ok.

The issue is when it is off. The WiiM Ultra is then still showing as online on the CEC. It should NOT show available, same way as it do when you deselect TV input.

This is a old bug that was actually fixed in a beta version (5.2.706937) 4 months ago but never made it to the main release.
Same for me, with my LG C2.
When the switch is off, the Ultra is still turned on when TV is turned on. As a bonus, the Ultra does not turn off when the TV is turned off, but maybe this is expected in this case.

Not exactly the same issue I described.
For me the TV "see" the Ultra as if is online and with input to TV, while it's actually still in standby mode.

Maybe your issue is related to the HDMI auto sensing?

Hm.
For me, when the "Automatically output audio to WiiM when TV is on" is switched off, the Wiim still turns on from standby and starts to play TV audio when TV is switched on. I think this should not be the case. On the other hand, the TV is still configured to HDMI ARC (instead of speaker). However I would expect this switch to cause no automatic HDMI audio.

Regarding the HDMI auto sensing, I seem to remember there was this switch previously in the Android app, but now I don't see it there - only "Auto-sensing of Optical In". And I have all the toggles in "Audio Input" switched off.

Thanks @tabata. I just attached my trusty old Squeezebox Touch with the Enhanced Digital Output feature installed to the Ultra optical input and put on some 24/192 Bruckner which plays at 24/192 with the Ultra Squeezelite. Ultra says 16/96 for the same file on optical input.

Yes. It may look like HDMI auto sensing is always on now. That is too bad.
People have been asking for it to be separated from the optical input but not to be removed.

I will never have my TV to play on the Ultra unless I select the TV input option!
In that case it is nice that the TV changes to external speakers, as it does now.

This has got to be the biggest disappointment of the year so far. After waiting patiently for about 10 months for this feature, and going through all of the various beta releases, it still doesn't work with my speakers, even at the Lowest bit rate of MP3 - 128 kbps and the Highest Playback Latency of 3000 ms, the sound is breaking up to the extent that it isn't listenable to.

Since testing this newly "released" beta feature, and it failing miserably, I have gone back to DLNA casting via LMS, and have been casting to my speakers at their fully supported 24 bit 192 kHz without any break up, or other issues. Why can't WiiM achieve the same results?

I also received 5.2.714249. I was running the Qobuz beta and this version is no longer beta but still supports Qobuz Connect.

I don't see what has changed since last version for the HDMI ARC/CEC.

The major bug that has been present since first release of the WiiM Ultra is still not fixed.

A TV that is turned on still "see" the WiiM Ultra CEC device when the TV is turned on, no matter how the WiiM Ultra input and HDMI CEC is configured. The results is that the TV always change speakers to ARC when it's turned on, even when the WiiM Ultra stay in standby.
Could you please let us know the brand and modeof your TV?

I also received 5.2.714249. I was running the Qobuz beta and this version is no longer beta but still supports Qobuz Connect.
And the Qobuz beta firmware has disappeared as an option for the Ultra. Wonder if that will sneak into the others too…
