That's with a fixed line level source?
Yes, comparing the same volume setting before and after on the WiiM Ultra. I do not use it for bass management, I use the DSPeaker Anti-Mode X2D and I needed to turn my subwoofer way down to rematch with the speakers after swapping the VibeLink in place of the SMSL separates. The subwoofer and the DAC/amps all attach to the Anti-Mode.

In comment #128 above it was stated that “there is some Bluetooth connectivity that will allow the Vibelink to be connected with the WiiM app for occasional over the air updates. There's no streaming built into this, but it may allow for some basic diagnostics as well as updates. It's not in the app enabled currently, but looks to be a capability for the future”.

As a corollary, over on Reddit someone said “I saw it and held it at the recent Bristol Hifi show. Confused that the Ultra and Vibe both have volume controls. Was told that a pure 'Power amp' option will be added to the firmware and volume controlled by the Ultra and app will be coming in the very near future, perhaps by launch.”

So, given comment #128 suggests that OTA updates via Bluetooth might be possible in the future, it might therefore be able to accomplish the first part I.e allowing a “power amp option”, whatever that might actually mean.

However, given that answers from WiiM engineers to @RyanWithWiiM have said the vibelink won’t be getting a remote control, coupled with the apparent absence of any motorised volume control, I’d take the second part about app control of the vibelink’s volume also being delivered via an OTA update with a pinch of salt. But who knows?

Yes,
If I'm not mistaken, all we can do via Bluetooth is update, send logs, and standby on/off. It is conceivable that input switching could be added to this, but I don't think that has been mentioned yet.

Well I must say, I believe WiiM has hit it out of the ballpark with this amp for anyone whose speakers don’t need 9,000 gigawatts of power. This setup sounds phenomenal for me (I high-pass filter the signal to my LS50 Metas, significantly reducing power demands). This is the first ESS-DAC-based device that I really find myself enjoying the sound of. I won’t be returning the amp…I will instead be finding ways to get some money back on the rest of the chain this is replacing. Bravo to you again, WiiM team! You keep crushing it with each release!

Glad you got it and you’re enjoying it.

This is great to hear how do you have it connected?

You already want to get rid of your 2x PA200?:)

Can one of the lucky ones who have the wiim vibelink amp compare the combination wiim ultra with wiim vibelink amp vs. wiim amp pro what the power consumption is in watts during "normal" radio listening?

I have about 10-12w consumption with my wiim amp pro

Thank you very much

I don’t have a WiiM amp pro. Sorry.

I run the WiiM Ultra’s USB output to a DDC in order to split the signal. One digital signal (optical) goes to a cheap DAC which then feeds my spectrum analyzer. The coax signal feeds my DSPeaker Anti-Mode X2D room correction and bass management unit. The subwoofer attaches to the Anti-Mode’s sub out and an iFi iPurifier2 attaches to the optical output of the Anti-Mode, and then attaches directly into the coax input of the VibeLink.

Probably an error in the v1.0 user manual.

Note how the printing on the cable boxes doesn't claim a trigger cable to be included .

The WiiM VibeLink Amp is missing a few key features that would make it a more complete, useful, and practical amplifier:
  • HDMI ARC – For seamless TV audio integration.
  • Subwoofer Output – To properly handle low frequencies with an active subwoofer.
  • Remote Volume Control – For effortless adjustments from anywhere.
Right now, VibeLink lacks all three, making it feel like an unfinished product rather than a polished, fully developed amplifier. Hopefully, a future upgraded model will finally get it right.

Depends what other devices you already have. I have all of these things in my WiiM ultra.

Rather missing the point of the vibelink. Consider the WiiM Amp or Amp Pro if you want features like that in an amplifier.

It's a finished power amplifier. Simple as that.

Did you notice that streaming is missing? App support is missing? What good is a subwoofer output that cannot be configured? Missing balance control and no mono switch? Missing phono input? Missing USB input?

If you need HDMI ARC, subwoofer output and remote volume control, then WiiM already have three products to chose from:
  • WiiM Amp – Most cost efficient.
  • WiiM Amp Pro – Better DAC and PFFB power section.
  • WiiM Ultra plus WiiM Vibelink Amp – Best they have to offer.
If you can do without HDMI ARC and subwoofer output, there are even more options, of course. The Vibelink Amp doesn't compete with their other amps, it complements their streamers. :)
