do you know if the volume control is analogue in the amp? If i connect a streamer either digitally as a transport or as streaming dac to the analogue input of the vibelink amp would I be able to control volume without any bit reduction, essentially in a lossless way?

I’m not sure what you’re trying to get at here.

If you’re saying it’s made to match the Ultra, then why waste money putting in a DAC?

If you’re saying it’s to match all WiiM streamers, then yes that’s great (a good way towards for Mini and Pro owners), but I can’t see how it suits them more than any other amp, or DAC/amp.
Thanks for you,re reply.

What i mean is: ..you could compare it to other amps... But can you? Who has listened to this amp yet?
How can one compare..prices then with other amps.

Yes there is price to it +and as you know Wiim stands for offering a lot for a very decent price..
Yes it matches the Wiim products but whats inside is also important to wiim, as you know.
There is more to it then price only i would say:..How does it sound for instance...in combination with a Ultra,Pro..it mathes not only visually but also sound wise i think..
Ok maybe one could say its not worth it ..but others may think otherwise. It,s upon the customer to decide..

Analogue to the best of my knowledge as it’s been confirmed it doesn’t digitise its analogue inputs and volume control works for that, ergo it’s analogue ;)

I've updated the post! Sorry all, I was going off of the info used for the press pack and it looks like there was a late change to the 9039Q2M that I missed.
Handsome little upgrade! Slightly more compelling now for WiiM Ultra owners like myself since before this change, it was not an upgrade at all for us.

If you’re going to listen for differences in amps, double blind testing, you’ll be listening for a long time.

I have come to this a bit late. This is a strange product IMHO.

If you were to use this with a WiiM Ultra you would be completely wasting the Ultra's onboard DAC wouldn't you? OK I see the Vibelink (weird name) has a marginally better DAC chip.

However you would need the Ultra if you wanted to attach a turntable and/or wanted things to match. Presumably then the Analog audio from said turntable is going to converted to digital so the only analog source that stays analog is something you would plug directly into the Vibelink's RCA's

No. Vibelink doesn't connect with a remote, or your network, or your phone. It connects with a streamer or source device that might be remote controlled.

Nope, I'll have to check out the press pack and see what's up.
Also curious if this may be a new remote, but packaged with a revision of the Ultra?

The VibeLink uses ES9039Q2M. WiiM Ultra uses ES9038Q2M. It is a minor upgrade as such.

That's the second-generation remote for WiiM Ultra, and not included with VibeLink.

It's definitely best thought of as a "pure power amplifier" (quoting WiiM) that happens to provide an updated DAC for more flexible connectivity and providing an upgraded DAC to older streamer models.

But who knows, those who believe in the superiority of analogue volume control might be attracted as well. Personally I never understood those buying desktop amps with one analogue input (plus Bluetooth, to make matters worse) and a volume knob. But even for this crowd the Vibelink Amp might be a thing.

A remote control would have gone an extremely long way in making said analog volume control more usable.

Are motorised pots accepted by the purist? I honestly don't know.

A switched resistor ladder network would not have made it into a $299 product, I'm sure.

$280 preamp with motorized resistor ladder volume control:

But I get what you're saying, given that the Saga 2 has no power amp stage.

Fosi P4 preamp is $99 with a motorized volume knob and remote. You could build a Fosi Audio stack with a preamp, power amp, DAC and phono preamp, but you sacrifice the one box approach of the Vibelink.
