Hey everyone, I've published some answers for some top questions you've asked in here in our the first WiiM Talks article. If you have more questions you'd like to see answered on Vibelink Amp or other WiiM related topics, feel free to throw them into the comments of the post!

Not the same, but the difference is probably inaudible (ES9038Q2M vs ES9039Q2M).

I agree that the difference from the dac chip itself is probably minimal, but the difference in sound between the amp pro and the vibelink certainly is not.

I agree on this, having previously auditioned an Amp Pro and now owning a VibeLink.

If I have a proamp would I need a vibelink?
If you were thinking of using just the streaming part of the amp pro and a vibelink for amplification then no, this won't work.
There's no way to connect the amp pro to the vibelink.
Well, I suppose you could go amp pro usb out to a usb to optical converter to vibelink optical in, but...

So have they deliberately made the Amp Pro sound worse than the Vibelink? It's the same amplifier chip after all.

Hi, I’m in the middle of setting up a bed-/workingroom.
Setup will consist of the Ultra at the center, plus some KEF LS50Meta (my dearest „requested“ blue speakers 😅) Next limiting factor…no subwoofer, no extra boxes with dsp/dac.

So my setup would be different to yours. I‘m struggling selecting a suitable amplifier and before the Vibelink was announced I checked the usual suspects from Fosi V3 Mono / 3E Audio A7 Mono…

At the moment I have a NAD c368 80w/ucd Amp connected to the Metas. This sounds OK ….but I can’t shake the feeling….that there could be be a level up from the used NAD?

Any advice from your side being a Ultra/Meta/Vibelink user?
Highly appreciated
Thanx 😃

An IOM Ultra (Hypex NC252MP) will give you everything you’re looking for (enough power to extract the best from the LS50 Metas, matching look, small form factor, amazing clarity, dead neutral tonality).

Why no sub out?

Why no sub out?
I think they expect you to use the bass management in the attached streamer (e.g. WiiM Ultra) instead. They probably didn't want the added cost or complication of the necessary software interface for configuring the bass management features in VibeLink if it had a subwoofer output, especially as even more complaints about duplicating features already in the WiiM Ultra would likely come in.

-Ed

Why no sub out?

“ Think of it as the minimalist audiophile’s dream—it cuts the fluff and delivers outstanding performance where it matters most. With premium components like the ESS 9039Q2M DAC, TI TPA3255 amplifier chips, six TI OPA1612 op-amps, and Post-Filter Feedback (PFFB) technology, it’s all about clean, dynamic, and highly accurate audio. By skipping features like streaming or a subwoofer output, the Vibelink Amp keeps the focus on top-notch sound.”

The Vibelink will be delivered on Thursday, April 10th, from amazon.de. - super happy.
I still have the Wiim Amp Pro and connected the Ultra to the Wiim Amp Pro (optical in) - I have HDMI ARC connected to the Wiim Ultra, but the volume control doesn't suit me at all.

I even made a group with the two devices over the app, but somehow the volume control isn't satisfactory, or I'm just too stupid.I hope this is better solved in the combination with the Wiim Ultra and Vibelink Amp, otherwise I'll quickly go back to the Wiim Amp Pro alone.

I expect the Wiim volume control to rise synchronously with the Wiim Vibelink... in other words, I don't want to always have to adjust the volume on the Wiim Vibelink individually. We'll see what Wiim brings in terms of software, but something has to come. This will then once again put the competition in the shade. For me, this topic also concerns power consumption. My Wii Amp Pro runs about 12-15 hours a day, and I want it to consume as little energy as possible.

It would be ideal if you could set in the app that only the "group volume" is adjusted via arc and not only the "wiim ultra" volume - see printscreen

1743940407820.png

Perhaps someone can explain to me how this is supposed to work synchronously.

Thank you very much

Ideally, the Wiim Vibelink would be set to 50% and I could adjust the volume with the Wiim Ultra... Perhaps ideally, if I go above 100%, the Wiim Vibelink would then increase to 50% capacity...

Perhaps someone can explain to me how this is supposed to work synchronously.

You can only control the vibelink's volume using its manual volume control - that in effect sets the ceiling on the overall volume of your system.

As has been suggested before, I'd first reduce the volume of your Ultra and set the vibelink at , say, the half way mark. Slowly increase the volume of the Ultra to 100% and then adjust the volume of the vibelink to the maximum level you'd ever want your system to play at and leave it there. Turn the volume down on the Ultra to a more comfortable level and after that just adjust the Ultra's volume into the vibelink.

Again, as I've said, I see the vibelink very much as a set it and forget it power amp, and that's how I use it in practice.

My WiiM Amp Pro runs about 12-15 hours a day, and I want it to consume as little energy as possible.
Perhaps you are somewhat confused as to which elements of which device is consuming most the energy in your described configurations.
As the actual Work performed is the speaker cones moving energetically to create sonic waves, and that energy is coming through the speaker wires from the WiiM Amp Pro Amplifier Circuit. Control of the energy through the Amplifier Circuit is managed by combination of all its inputs - Volume Setting on the Amp Pro and on the Input selected (ARC?) on the Ultra. However the power inputs from both of these are measured in milliwatts - that is the function of the Amplifier Circuit in the Amp Pro. Any "balancing" of Volume Settings on the Ultra and Amp Pro makes almost no difference in the energy consumption - only the resulting output Amplified Volume.
However, the Elephant in the Room that really should be addressed is that you imply the use of your TV for 12-15hrs a day as the source of that HDMI ARC feed. Trade that TV Streamer for an Internet Streaming Service - and Turn the TV OFF. Not only will it save you More than HALF the total Energy Consumption of the system, but you'll likely get a Higher-Resolution Source for your listening pleasure.
