if it meets its resonance frequency.... etc.... it starts to oscillate to this one......
Isn't that just what the air column in the reflex port does The very nature of a tuning frequency is its resonant behaviour it's what we want. Controlling it is just a matter of (slight and appropriate) damping.

The cone must not perform any tumble movement, of course. But that's just a question of sound mechanical construction.

The biggest downside of passive radiators are high costs, slightly reduced efficiency (over a simple port) and more complex tuning.

Sorry, I was just referring to the famous "notch" with passive radiator... (don't forget its 18db) and this characteristic curve... ;-)

Can anyone advise please,
I've purchased a vibelink and have a wiim pro plus connected up to it.

Generally speaking, improvements could stem from properly managing a subwoofer with the WiiM Ultra and relieving your speakers from some heavy bass lifting. ;)

Which connection do you use between the WiiM Pro Plus and the Vibelink Amp?

If you just plop in an Ultra to replace the Pro+ and make no other changes, I doubt that you will hear a difference. I have both and can't tell a difference between the DAC output in those two models.

The only reason to get an Ultra is because you want its extra features, like the display or phono input. Or, as noted above, you want to add a subwoofer to your system's setup and use the Ultra's subwoofer crossover feature. The Pro+ doesn't have those features. Or, the final reason to get an Ultra is simply because you want their latest model. The problem with that is WiiM will inevitably come out with more new models as time goes by!

Wouldn't use the phono, display is OK ish,,
Yes, true I'm sure they will indeed,
No difference in sound quality for you then??

I've got both the Pro and Ultra, used as streamers into a DAC. They sound near identical to me coax or optical, with the Ultra pulling ahead via USB.

Personally I wouldn't upgrade for sound but the Ultra looks better and has some neat features.

Thanks, yep I think it's the features it has, if the sound quality isn't better, then the ultras features, very good that they are, wouldn't be enough for me anyway,, 👍👍

Wiim ultra also has usb input if that is relevant to you (e.g. if you have a drive with ripped or downloaded flac files).

So....

I went to my local Richer Sounds in the UK today in the hope of a look and a listen to the vibelink.

Even though it's listed on their website I was told they wasn't expecting and stock for about 4 weeks.

I've also been searching YouTube weekly for a proper review of the unit so far there hasn't been a proper reviews of the unit.

My question is was the launch of the vibelink messed up somehow? It's strange that even though the product has been available for awhile now there is a weird lack of reviews and stock.

It feels like a really soft launch of a product.

Am I missing something?

Audio Science Review got one and reviewed it and probably that’s good enough for them.

I just find the whole launch of something that's meant to be at the top of the WiiM line up a bit off and as a consumer that worries me

As you’re aware, only last week @RyanWithWiiM said they were working in getting units out to reviewers, stereonet published this review and Amazon UK have it for next day delivery. Guess it depends on how you define messed up…
