An Inside Look at the WiiM Sound

We're excited to give you this closer look at what makes the WiiM Sound tick. This exploded view shows all the components that come together to create our first smart speaker and we think you're going to love what's inside.

What You're Looking At

After years of building award-winning streamers and amplifiers, we listened to our community asking for an easy edition to their WiiM home setups to bring high-resolution, multi-room smart audio in a convenient package. So we built WiiM Sound.

This was designed specifically with flexibility in mind. You can use it to expand WiiM home setups to rooms without speaker setups existing already, to bring audio easily to any space, to expand a WiiM home theater setup to be 5.1 with wireless surrounds or center, and to make whole home setups, even in rooms not traditionally used as dedicated listening room.

At the core, you've got a 4" paper-cone woofer paired with dual 1" silk-dome tweeters to delivers tight, natural mid-bass, with smooth, extended highs and wide dispersion. The result? A coherent soundstage that's clear, refined, and never harsh. Further customizable with our RoomFit software and EQ or PEQ.

This breakdown shows how we've packed all that performance into a compact form factor that fits anywhere in your home—on a shelf, table, counter, stand, or even wall-mounted.

The WiiM Sound delivers 100W total output and covers a frequency range from 35 Hz all the way up to 20 kHz. That means you're getting real bass extension and crystal-clear highs, all from a speaker that measures just 5.7" x 5.7" x 7.5" and weighs 5.5 lbs. And if you're looking enforce the low end, you can pair the WiiM Sound with the WiiM Sub Pro wirelessly.

The internal design ensures you get room-filling audio no matter where you place it, and our RoomFit technology (previously called Room Correction) actively takes precise acoustic measurements of your space, crafting customized corrections specifically for your room.

Nice, but very sceptical about the 35Hz from such a small box. It could replace my subwoofer. A fact my wife would appreciate. 😂😂 "Allein mir fehlt der Glaube!" (Faust 1)

It doesn't say how many dBs down it is at 35Hz
Exactly. And as long as the desired level is low, even a 4" bass driver can be EQed to play flat down to 35 Hz.

The point is certainly not that a small streaming speaker could replace a subwoofer. ;) It's marketing speak for “this speaker is not bass shy or liveless even when used without a sub“. :)

"Marketing speak" this was the term I could not find.
Nothing wrong with that, since everybody does it anyway. :)

Just for a comparison, the Apple homepod 2nd gen, with it's 4'' driver, reaches 33 Hz at -6 dB. (in real world measurements)
In-room and at low enough levels this is certainly doable. There's absolutely no secret to bass response from small (or big) woofers. No matter if active EQ is used or not, in the end all that matters to reach a certain f3 or f6 at a certain level is displacement volume.

Well... the WiiM Sound doesn't have a subwoofer output port, but if someone wanted to get creative enough... maybe not. You could wire both into the network if that's your main concern though.
Silly me / poorly worded question.
I was more referring to being able to have both a Sound and a Sub Pro connected via ethernet.
Cheers.
