Enhanced Room Correction is Here!

Ideas for RC from the release notes of HouseCurve

1. Use of shelve filter less corrections better results

2. Headroom calculation

3. Measurement sweep fades more gently to be kind to systems without infrasonic filters
You can’t just copy someone else idea just like that. Just about everything in electronics and software has a patent. You want their design you pay the royalty.

What ? This is not a patent … It is a methodology based on existing publicly available knowledge. It is a matter of implementation and if someone would like to do the work in the algorithm.

What I’m saying if you copy everything that house curve have and you just modified the user interface you could be subject of patent infringement or intellectual property theft. Maybe you’re in country of lawlessness.

The only way you can infringe a patent in this case is if you copy and paste the same code. Many room correction softwares use shelve filters apart from pk filters. Are all of them unlawful? Again the implementation matters. Let’s not reinvent the wheel here …

We're thrilled to announce that our Room Correction feature is getting a significant upgrade! Starting today, WiiM devices will receive big improvements to Room Correction performance when tuned, taking your listening experience to the next level.

What's New?
Broader Frequency Range: Expand the default 40Hz~4KHz frequency range to an impressive 30Hz~20kHz, enhancing both bass and high frequencies.

How to Experience the Upgrade:
To take advantage of these exciting improvements, simply update to the latest version of the WiiM Home App on your iOS or Android device, and make sure your WiiM device is running the latest firmware. Most of these changes happened server side, but we recommend making sure you have no updates pending.

Tips for Optimizing Room Correction:
A good way to evaluate the new Room Correction is by starting with bass frequency adjustments - which is much simpler than adjusting both bass and treble simultaneously. If your previous range was 40~4k Hz, try adjusting it to 20~4k Hz to see if it improves bass performance. Treble adjustments are more speaker-dependent and less influenced by the room, plus users have varying preferences for treble. The update improves treble alignment with your target curve, offering more precise control in the high-frequency range.

Questions or Feedback?
Feel free to share your thoughts or ask questions in this thread. We're always here to listen and help.

Thanks for being part of the WiiM community!
@RyanWithWiim I love this, but I would pay you to make a post on how the processing is done in the hardware/software!

Well at least a donation then!
Nobody stated any set fees right Mr.Smartplug ;)
You mean like gofundme? The other interesting features I’m looking forward advanced room correction which include auto level, expanded peq band, multiple sweep and separate band for sub and main speakers. I also looking forward to simultaneous usb with sub.

Hey all, I'll get it added to my list of Tech Tuesday topics. I'll have to make sure we're not sharing too much "secret sauce" on that one.

Do you guys push the firmware updates out in waves or staggered manner? I was at my dad’s place and he received the firmware update for his Ultra to get left/right separated room correction. I got home and checked for firmware update and it says I have the latest but I don’t yet have the left/right split room correction despite having the latest WiiM Home app on my phone (in fact I used my phone to run the correction for my dad with my UMIK-1 while I was up at his place).

Yes, it seems it can take a few days to get around to everyone.
Not been able to discern any pattern over the past two years!
Generally, if it's within a week I'm not concerned.

Thanks!

I have a new amp coming in and was hoping to knock out the new room calibration the same time I set up the new amp (Peachtree GaN 1, gets here tomorrow), but I guess I’ll just be running it twice then unless I get the new firmware tomorrow too.

I saw that eversolo version of room correction uses convolution filters which are more accurate and include also phase/timing information by reading the impulse response measurement . Do WiiM devices have the necessary cpu power to support these type of filters /RC?

It would be a real upgrade (due to phase/timing info). :)
