What speakers are you using?

I started this hifi lark in 1975. Originally had Wharfedale Lintons, which were replaced with KEF Q3's in 2000.

I was going to upgrade them, but the WiiM Pro and room correction has improved things so much I'm not so sure I need to now. :)
The room is the biggest part of any system, upgrade it and you may never need to upgrade anything else.

As it's expensive to upgrade a room, and will probably destroy it's aesthetic value, room correction is a good second option.

As of today I'm running 2 Wiim Amps. The 1st I bought on Black Friday for system 2 with the tv and use mid 80s Arcam Two Plus.

Ah! I recognise those systems. Those old Arcams of yours sound superb, though I haven't heard them with the WiiM amp. (y)

Back in December I got an Amp Pro for home music stereo listening. When the tiny Polk speakers (part of a previous 5.1 home theater setup) weren’t quite cutting it, I decided to plunge a little deeper and treat myself to a pair of Paradigm Monitor SE 6000F’s. I picked those because they showed up in a search for high-sensitivity speakers and were very reasonably priced compared to other options, though I probably could easily have gotten away with the 3000F’s. Too late, and they’re too damn big and heavy and I’m too old to mess with repacking and returning. And anyway, they sound fantastic. They’re combined with an older JBL PSW1000 powered sub, which is still doing its job quite nicely. It took me a few days of messing with balances and eq’s, but I think I finally have it right where I want it. Nice fat (but not muddy) bass, and crisp detail that clearly cuts through over it. My only music sound source is Bluetoothing Apple Music or Sirius XM from my iPhone, but I also have an optical line from my tv to supplement a Bose soundbar and sub when I feel like rattling the shingles with a loud movie. But it’s primarily just for music.

I’ve been spending many hours when I can going back through my library, most of which was imported CD’s from 70’s through 00’s, with a growing bit of newer stuff added from Apple Music. Everything sounds anywhere from great to incredible. I’m so impressed with this little amp. I’ve always managed to assemble passable setups with budget gear, but never really had anything that I was totally happy with. This is the most I’ve ever spent on a home stereo, and it was worth every penny, as it continues to blow me away every time I fire it up.

Wimp Amp Pro with Fyne F500's. Only acquired a couple of weeks ago. So far so very good. The speakers are on Mission Stancette stands bought cheaply on Ebay. They are currently £300 off at Richer sounds, originally £799 now £499,

I recommend anyone looking for good and affordable floorstanding speakers to try out the Dali Spektor 6. I treated myself to them as a “just for fun” second loudspeaker on the “B connection” of my Yamaha amplifier and am very impressed by what is possible at this comparatively low price.

The room is less of a problem with open baffles than with box speakers. The key is placing them away from walls.

My configuration is wiim ultra, temple audio bantam gold, eltax monitor 3. with rc I even deleted a sub elac, fantastic sound.

I started by connecting the Wiim Amp to the small Usher s-502 monitors. These are very good monitors, but for me they sounded too bright and shrill with the Wiim Amp. Then I connected the Wiim Amp to the Quad 12L speakers. These speakers add warmth and refinement to the Wiim AMP sound. The stage became wider and better arranged. I really like this combination and I think the Quad 12L speakers are very good match with the Wiim Amp.
