WiiM Ultra Firmware v5.2.708441 - Feb 22, 2025

Another issue that I expected to have been fixed with this release is the missing display of album title on the Ultra screen. Only track and artist is listed.

I know I will get the usual arguments of that you can't see them anyway or that it's of no use but I would still like to see issues fixed.

but I don't object to it at all... I pointed out from the beginning that it is irrelevant...

never has a wiim speaker come to tell you that they understood this subject...

( ps you essentially need, I think, adjustment signals like the good ana tuners used to have for recording on tape etc. this is easily found or done in a few clicks...to then read them on your wiim...no? "rec cal")
What did "rec cal" do? Radio stations are not always the same volume. Maybe they were in the good old days 🤣

if it exists it's not for nothing... you just don't realize the use ...and more now... ;-)
ps hgo want to use ana tape recorders
As described before. I have a tape recorder attached to analog input. As the output volume from it depends on tape type and the recording itself, I try to optimize the output level to get best dynamic from the WiiM (ADC and pre-gain). To see that, I use the VU meter to find the max. Just as you would do with the VU meter on the recorder when doing the recording.

Having the correct scale with the digital max at 0 dBFS and measurement on input would help in doing that.

I know.. and this case is not the one I am describing....
but wiim realise your use? ;-) vumetre in ana input
;-)
(on test tape ( signal test)....calibrate your output to at least 2v max on multimeters sound card etc..we will no longer have to worry about the risk of input saturation ;-)

I have a ticket outstanding and there has been several discussions about it.
But, no. I don't think @WiiM Team understand.

Note that although my specific use case is analog input, a VU meter of any kind in a pre-amp should work on the input, just as it shall work on the output for the power amplifier.

So if WiiM could add an option to select input or output, that would be ideal.

on the output here since via dac is normalized to 2v max, so in input ok...but in output hardly any use..
ps for your use is practically a total counterpoint to what wiim is by nature and the majority of users.. "streaming -dematarialised etc" ;-)))))
(so much effort to go through such a modest adc...)

The WiiM Ultra is a pre-amp, so using the analog input is not so strange I would think.

I know you hate the ADC but it works fine for me.

I'm not sure if that is what you mean. I'm struggling to understand what you write.

I like the new white dB (that’s what it says) meter. It’s pretty.
But it would be nice if it was
1) usable (ref. dBFS on input), and
2) stereo.
I normally use blurred covers, but sometimes it’s nice to have something else to look at.

if for memory use, old tape, lp etc and not really qualitative use.. rest assured I think that the adc of the wiim is well come of course...
but just for me...."just in case" entries remain
;-)
(for hgo..which reel to reel model? calibrated on which tape? ;-) )

Maybe dependent on the DAC you’re connecting to?
To be honest, I don't know anything about USB 😅.

Topping D30 Pro
DAC chip: CS43198 *4
USB chip: XMOS XU208
USB input: PCM:44.1kHz-384kHz / 16bit-32bit

I usually use Coax out, so no problem, but if anyone knows why, please let me know 🥹🙏.

Edit :
#526681 Ticket sent.
